Predict-Observe-Explain-Based Activities in the Association of Chemistry with the Daily Life and Student Views

Abstract

In the present study, the purpose is to develop and apply of activity set developed based on prediction-observation-explanation learning approach to allow students to relate chemistry to everyday life and to elicit the students’ opinions about the use of this activity set in class. In this research, qualitative research methods are used. The sample of the study was 19 students from eight grade of a secondary school in Rize.  As a result of the findings, it was understood the activities developed based on prediction-observation-explanation learning approach were found to be enjoyable, misinformation correction opportunities they found, interpersonal interaction had a positive effect, which increases the interest in science and in particular was determined to be a significant impact in their association chemistry details of daily life.
