Abstract

The capital structure of an organization is the outcome of financial decision taken by firm. The capital structure is highly affected by market conditions and other external factors. SMEs are gaining interest in various research studies due to their distinctive organizational features and benefits. The present study will explore key areas, contributors and key dynamics of capital structure in context with SMEs. This study will adopt bibliometric analysis with the help of reviewing various research studies from competitive journals and research articles. The articles will be divided as per the theories such as pecking order theory, agency theory and trade-off theory. Determinants of capital structure, trade credit, corporate governance, and bankruptcy are also the prominent research topics in this field. Also, this study will identified the research gaps and recommend actionable research directions for the future.
